Description

Step back in time with this magnificent late 19th-century brass lens, an "Univeras Extra Rapid" crafted by the esteemed Otto Haaris of Magdeburg. Dating from approximately 1880-1900 (possibly up to 1910), this piece embodies the golden age of photography. Constructed entirely from original brass, it features a front lens diameter of 6 cm and an approximate focal length of 40 cm, indicative of the large format cameras it would have graced. This lens boasts an untouched history: it has never been repaired, restored, or even cleaned, preserving its authentic age-appropriate patina and wear. All parts are original, and its surface/finish remains unrepainted, showcasing its true historical integrity. Please note, there are known defects: strange elongated lines are present between the two rear lens elements, not on the outer surface. A remarkable find for collectors and enthusiasts of early photographic equipment.
